Netscape Navigator Dialer Version 3.0

for ACE InfoSystems

What is it? It is a Windows 3.1 version of Netscape Navigator that contains it's own dialer and tcp/ip stack. It comes bundled with a pop3 complient mail reader and newsgroup client. If you're not running Windows 3.x, or Workgroups 3.x, bail out now. Note that as of date, no Windows 3.1 browsers yet support java, including this one.

Oh, you don't have the software? Chose either the floppy install, or the direct install. Both downloads are almost 8 megs small. :)

First, you must have your account set up at ACE InfoSystems. You will then have the information required by the following setup procedures.

I won't have to expain much... just follow the screens shown below.

Note that the "I will need a logon window" is checked. Apparently, this implementation doe not support PAP so it will be necessary to manually log in. There is an option to use a script, but my attempts to use one were in vain.

If you've gotten this far, you're ready to try it out. From the Netscape Dialup Trial program group, click on the ACE InfoSystem Dialer icon (or whatever you have chosen to call it) The Username, Password, Current Location, and Number to Dial field should already be populated. If they are now, you may enter the information now. When ready, click on the Dial button, and then enter the appropriate information as follows.

Enter "ppp:user name" (without quotes) as shown on the following screen.

If you get the next screen with an IP address, press Continue. You will then be a node on the Internet and can use your Netscape Navigator to surf the web, read your email, and lose yourself in the vast multitude of usnet newsgroups.

Now... go have fun!
